Title

Bench

Subject

Fragment preserving in upper part of east corner: (a) on southeast face; (b) on northeast face. On (a) is upper part of flaring yellow leg marked with black and black-outlined yellow strut, both apparently imitating the structure of a wooden bench. On (b) there is regular arc dado of yellow, brown and white with black scallop lines. Thus the short end of the bench was given a dado-motif, perhaps so that it might blend in with the wall; the long side of the bench facing into the room was painted to represent a piece of furniture.
